Actually, Android OS was the first step of the great monopoly game of Google which was set to rule Smartphone world as after gaining more than 90 percent of total internet search share, Google wanted to seek other markets and areas where it could experiment its latest ideas. Since its launch, Google’s Android has led the way and has just registered its name as top Smartphone OS in US.
Ovum, an independent market research firm, has conducted a survey and the results are no surprise for technology geeks but they might create a headache for the rivals of Android OS. Adam Leach, Ovum Principal Analyst, indicated that Android will be the top Smartphone OS in 2016 all over the world by holding more than 38% share, derailing iOS, Windows and RIM at 17.5%, 17.2% and 16.5% respectively. Surprisingly, Symbian is seen nowhere in the results although it is the top OS for mobile phone all over the world with having about 53 percent of total mobile market share.
Along with the future forecast, the current analysis of Smartphone market conducted by Nielsen Wire draws a different view. Microsoft’s Windows OS (all versions) currently holds a mere 10% share in overall Smartphone OS market whereas Symbian holds only 2% share in Smartphone industry unlike its major share in mobile phone market.
It is pretty interesting that Google has recently launched a report disclosing that thousands of Android devices are getting activated every day. That must be an itch in the nose for Apple as Android is flexible and manufacturers like HTC and Samsung would lead Android to achieve the 2016 targets as projected by Ovum analysis.
